Warrior On Wheels (WOW) is a Non-Profit Organisation that uplifts and empowers children with disabilities by providing special adventures tailored to suit their needs. Earlier this year, fifteen
WOW Buggy Teams took part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and we’re hoping that we can increase that number in 2020 by giving you the opportunity to ride as part of a Warrior on Wheels Buggy Team
with Equatours.
To get involved with the Warrior on Wheels Foundation at the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020, please contact us to sign up as part of a Buggy Team. You can combine it with any Equatours Cape Town Cycle
Tour Package or Tailor-Made Trip.
Here’s a brief overview of what you need to know:
- Each Buggy Team consists of 2 riders; the main rider towing the buggy and a support rider to help on the hills and keep an eye on the passenger. Additional support riders may participate upon
request.
- If you are riding solo, you can request to ride as the main rider or support rider, and we will team you up with another rider.
- You will use your own bike. A specially designed bracket will attach the buggy to the main rider’s bike.
- Each team is fitted with a tracking device so that they can be located by the event organisers in case emergency assistance is required.
- You will need to attend a safety briefing in Cape Town before the event. We will organise this once your travel arrangements have been confirmed with us.
- We will register you with Warrior On Wheels at the time of booking. Places are strictly limited due to the number of buggies available, so advanced booking is essential.
- A sponsorship fee of R1,800 (approximately £110) per person applies. This covers the costs of the entry fees, timing chips, jerseys, and helmets for the children participating in the event.
Bicycle Beyond will donate 50 percent of this fee and add the remaining 50 percent to your balance invoice. All funds will be transferred to the Warriors on Wheels Foundation and you will receive
proof of transfer.
- Groups can sponsor and brand a buggy for the event.
