For many travellers, a trip to Peru would not be complete without visiting the magnificent Machu Picchu - a resplendent archaeological site of scared temples, unusual flora and fauna and exquisite wildlife.

 

Peru, however, has so much more to offer the traveller, and during this fantastic 12-day adventure, you will visit beautiful cities, quaint towns and the majestic Titicaca Lake, for a true Peruvian experience.

 

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival at Lima Airport, please clear immigration, collect your luggage, and proceed to the arrivals hall where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in the city. Your driver will also provide you with a documentation kit and detailed program. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Overnight: Lima

 

Day 2: Lima

After breakfast today, you will take a short city tour of Lima visiting the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Place, before continuing to the Santo Domingo Convent.

Your tour continues to the modern residential suburb of San Isidro and to downtown Miraflores, where, at the Park of Love, you may enjoy a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 3: Arequipa – City Tour and Visit to Santa Catalina Convent  

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our representatives and transferred to the hotel.  In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the “White City” including the Santa Catalina Convent, the Main Square, and the San Ignacio’s Dome, before continuing to the typical districts of Cayma and Yanahuara.

Day 4: Colca Canyon

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel to start the trip through the town of Yura and the National Reserve of Salinas/Aguada Blanca and Pampa Cañahuas, where you can see many species of birds in their natural habitats, and South American camels. 

We will make a stop in Patahuasi to freshen up and enjoy a coca infusion, and later keep going to the town of Chivay. Depending on the schedule, you may have lunch in town or have a picnic enjoying the beautiful scenery from one of the natural viewing spots of the zone. 

The afternoon is yours to do as you please; we highly recommend a visit to La Calera and enjoy an invigorating bath in the hot spring waters.

Day 5: Condor Cross – Transfer to Puno  

After an early breakfast, you will begin your trip to “Cruz del Condor” (Condor Cross), which allows spectacular view of one of the deepest canyons in the world. With luck, have a chance to take pictures of the biggest and most impressive flying bird in the Andes, the majestic Condor. Depending on the schedule, you could make a stop in the town of Pinchollo, the only pre-Inca town still inhabited, and the Maca town, with its beautiful craft market and colonial church. You will have lunch in Chivay and later you will continue with the trip to Puno.

Day 6: Lake Titicaca – Floating Islands of the Uros and Taquile  

Today is one of the many highlights of the trip, and after breakfast, you will go on to Uros Island. From here, you will take a three-hour boat trip on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, to the Island of Taquile. To reach the hub of the island one must make a strenuous climb of 600 stone steps, but the effort is rewarded by the views of the Lake and its surrounding mountains.

Day 7: Departure to Cusco – La Raya/ Racchi/ Andahuaylillas  

You will start your trip today by bus to Cusco, stopping at Pucara and La Raya along the way to make the most of the excellent photo opportunities and the wonderful scenery of the South Valley of Cusco. On route, we will stop at the Racchi ruins, known as “The Temple of God Wiracocha” before enjoying lunch.

We will continue to the town of Andahuaylillas, before arriving in Cusco in the afternoon.

Day 8: City Tour, Sacsayhuaman and Nearby Ruins   

In the afternoon, you will visit the Imperial City, a living example of the mixture of the Andean and Spanish cultures. The trip includes a trip to the Koricancha temple, the Santo Domingo Church the Main Square, and the beautiful Church of La Compañía.  

Next, you will visit the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, before finally visiting the archaeological sites of Qenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, located northeast of the city.

Day 9: Free Day – Explore the City on your Own!

Day 10: Sacred Valley of the Incas: Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo  

After breakfast today, you will begin your trip towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. After a stop on the way to enjoy a spectacular view of the Urubamba valley, you will arrive to the colourful market of Pisac, where you may interact with the local artisans and purchase their hand-made souvenirs. The tour continues to the town of Urubamba for a buffet lunch, before a final stop at Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Inca origin with remarkable channels and stone streets.

Day 11: Machu Picchu “The Lost City of the Incas”  

The day you have been waiting for, today you take the train excursion to Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. During the trip, you will enjoy an amazing view of the landscapes of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. 

Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, our representatives will assist you to board the bus that will take you to the Incan citadel, where a professional guide will lead you through its amazing architecture and landscape. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the zone on your own, relax and meditate. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant, and you will return by train before transferring to your hotel.

Day 12: Return to Lima – International Departure

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima, where you will connect with your return flight home.
