Upon arrival in Port Elizabeth, please collect your luggage and proceed to the main exit where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to recover from your long flight and prepare for the days ahead.

25. FEBRUARY 2025

TRAINING RIDE, BRIEFING, GROUP DINNER

Today has been set aside for building your bikes, making any necessary repairs, and meeting your fellow cycling buddies. In the afternoon, we will take a short warm-up ride of around 60km, before regrouping at 18h00 for a tour briefing followed by dinner at the hotel.

26. FEBRUARY 2025

PORT ELIZABETH TO JEFFREY’S BAY: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 115KM / 71 MILES

After an early breakfast and hotel check-out, we will load our luggage onto the support vehicle before setting off from the hotel. We’ll ride next to the beach and the rocky coastline before heading inland where the terrain will transform from flat roads to rolling hills. We will continue through small villages and farmland until we reach the small town of Jeffrey’s Bay (a mecca for surfers), where we will settle for the night.

27. FEBRUARY 2025

JEFFREY’S BAY TO NATURES VALLEY: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 110KM / 68 MILES

After transferring out to Humansdorp, today’s cycle ride starts on easy terrain as we head out of town and into the rich green countryside that will lead us to the Tsitsikamma Mountains. From here, our route remains relatively flat, but there are a few climbs to test our legs as we make our way through the lush farmland towards Nature’s Valley. Here, we’ll have time to dip our toes in the ocean before loading the bikes and transferring to our hotel in The Crags.

28. FEBRUARY 2025

THE CRAGS TO BRENTON-ON-SEA: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 85KM / 52 MILES

After our morning routine of breakfast, hotel check out, and loading the support vehicle with our luggage, we will leave The Crags behind and make our way to the Knysna Heads, where we will break for lunch at this spectacular viewpoint. Afterwards, we’ll continue to Brenton-on-Sea where we will spend the night.

01. MARCH 2025

REST DAY BRENTON-ON-SEA

Today you have a rest day to do as much or as little as you please. You could spend the day relaxing at the hotel, strolling along the beach, or enjoying some of the many activities in and around Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, such as Birds of Eden, the Elephant Sanctuary, Featherbed Nature Reserve, and Robberg Nature reserve.

For those who are not ready to hang up their Lycra, there is an optional 50km ride available.

02. MARCH 2025

GEORGE TO OUDTSHOORN: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 100KM/62 MILES

To cover as much ground as possible today, our day will start with a +/- 1-hour transfer from Brenton-on-Sea to George, where we will start cycling along the coastal road towards Mossel Bay. At Hartenbos, we’ll turn inland and make our way up and over the Robinson Pass to the Ostrich Capital of the world – Oudtshoorn. Today is a demanding day with plenty of climbing.

03. MARCH 2025

CALITZDORP TO BARRYDALE: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 125KM / 75 MILES

After breakfast today, we will depart Oudtshoorn and transfer 45-minutes to Calitzdorp where we will continue with our ‘mountain stage’ up and over the Huisrivier Pass direction Barrydale. In Barrydale, we will load the bikes onto the trailer and transfer approximately 50-minutes to our hotel in Ashton for the evening.

04. MARCH 2025

ROBERTSON TO FRANSCHHOEK: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 116KM / 70 MILES

Will we continue our journey today from Ashton, just outside Robertson to the picturesque town of Franschhoek in the Western Cape Winelands. Our journey will take us over the iconic Franschhoek Pass and down into town where we’ll stop for refreshments before loading the bikes and transferring to Stellenbosch for dinner and overnight.

05. MARCH 2025

MUIZENBERG TO CAPE TOWN: CYCLING DISTANCE APPROXIMATELY 85KM / 52 MILES

After breakfast today, we will load our luggage and bikes onto the trailer and transfer approximately 30 minutes to the seaside resort of Muizenberg, where we’ll ride along the iconic Cape Peninsula and much of the Cape Town Cycle Tour route all the way to our hotel in Cape Town.

06. MARCH 2025

FREE DAY CAPE TOWN

Today you have a free day to do exactly as you please. You could spend the day exploring the many sightseeing attractions of South Africa’s Mother City, such as Table Mountain and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens or head to the V&A Waterfront for shopping. Wine Tours, Cape of Good Hope Tours, and Helicopter Tours are available to book upon request.

07. MARCH 2025

TRAINING RIDE: CAPE TOWN CYCLE TOUR REGISTRATION & EXPO 

At 08h30, you will have the opportunity to cycle part of the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour Route in reverse, departing directly from the hotel. You will cycle through Camps Bay and Hout Bay to Noordhoek for a coffee shop break, before heading back along the same route, taking in both Chapman’s Peak and Suikerbossie – your two biggest challenges on race day.

At 15h00, we will head to the Cape Town Cycle Tour Registration and EXPO to collect our race packs. A complimentary one-way transfer is provided. After collecting your race packs, the rest of the day is at leisure for you to shop the expo and make your own way back to the hotel.

08. MARCH 2025

RACE DAY BRIEFING

Today you have a day at leisure to shop for souvenirs and enjoy the electric atmosphere of Cape Town during the cycle tour weekend. At 17h30, we ask you to join us at our race day briefing; an informal event where you can enjoy some complimentary drinks, ask any last-minute questions about race day, and meet other Equatours guests.

09. MARCH 2025

CAPE TOWN CYCLE TOUR 2025

Today is the day you have been waiting for! After an early breakfast, depart the hotel and cycle the short ride to the start line to join your seeded group. Once you have crossed the finish line and collected your medal, please meet Team Equatours at the hospitality area for a group celebration before cycling back to the hotel.

At 18h00, we’ll regroup in the hotel reception and transfer to a local restaurant for our Cape Town Cycle Tour After Party dinner and celebration.

DEPARTURE
