Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Buenos Aires

Arrival in Buenos Aires, meet and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Buenos Aires

After breakfast at the hotel, we will set off on our half day city tour of Buenos Aires (approximately 4hrs), visiting Recoleta, Palermo, Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, San Telmo and La Boca.

We will then return to the hotel for a few hours at leisure, before transferring to Café de los Angelitos for a dinner and tango show.

Day 3: Buenos Aires

After breakfast today, we will set off into the ‘Pampas’ for a full day at the La Candelaria Ranch for a traditional Argentine Asado, Guachos Entertainment, and a spot of horseback riding.

Day 4: Buenos Aires

Today you have a day at leisure to explore Buenos Aires and shop for souvenirs, or perhaps, visit a leather factory for some great value leather goods. 

In the evening, we will head to Recoleta for ‘The Argentine Experience’, where we will try our hand at making cocktails and preparing our own empanadas, before dining on traditional Argentine cuisine including grilled provoleta cheese, sliced chorizo, and homemade chimichurri, washed down with unlimited Malbec wine!

Day 5: Buenos Aires, Mendoza

After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the airport for our onward flight to Mendoza. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 6: Mendoza

After breakfast today, we will head off in to the winelands on our full day Wine Cellars excursion. We will learn how the famous wines of Mendoza are made, before sampling some of the many great varieties of the region.  After a delicious lunch, we will have the opportunity to taste more wines before transferring back to the hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 7: Mendoza, Santiago de Chile

After breakfast, we will transfer across the Andes to Santiago, Chile.  A spectacular day trip through the heart of the Andes, it offers endless photo opportunities along the way.  We will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon for an evening at leisure in the city.

Day 8: Santiago de Chile

Breakfast at the hotel will be followed by a full day tour to Concha Y Toro and Cousiño Macul Wineries in the famous Valle de Maipo.  A day of beautiful scenery, wine tasting, and a delicious lunch in a traditional restaurant, it is a ‘must’ for anyone who loves New World Wines.

Day 9: Santiago, Calama, San Pedro De Atacama

After breakfast today we continue our journey north, with a flight to Calama and bus transfer to San Pedro de Atacama with its magical landscapes. The evening is at leisure to explore this tiny town with its tree-lined plaza, sprinkling of bars, shops and restaurants, and picture-perfect church.

Day 10: San Pedro De Atacama

After and early breakfast, we will set off on our full day excursion to the Atacama Salt Flats and Altiplanic Lagoons. A great day for photos, this tour covers wonderful landscapes that one simply cannot find anywhere else in the world.

Day 11: San Pedro De Atacama - Hito Cajon - Colchani

Today we have a long journey ahead of us, and so after breakfast, we will head to Hito Cajón on the Chile-Bolivia border, change vehicles, and continue to Colchani, the gateway to the world-famous Salar de Uyuni.  Our journey today will take us approximately 9hrs, passing through small towns of Alota, Culpina and San Cristobal.  A lunch break will be made on route, and the evening is at leisure.

Day 12: Uyuni Sal Flat, Potosi  

One of the many highlights of this tour, today we will head to Salar de Uyuni (Uyuni Salt Flats), visiting some of the many points of interest along the way.

The photo opportunities here are endless, so it’s time to be creative and create those holiday snaps that you will look back on for years to come!  We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the salt flats, before returning to the hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 13: Uyuni, La Paz

After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Uyuni airport for our onward flight to La Paz, the highest administrative capital city in the world. In La Paz, our driver will transfer us to our hotel in the city for an evening at leisure.

Day 14: La Paz

Today we will take a full day trip into the highlands to Lake Titicaca, and the picturesque lakeside town of Copacabana.  We will take a boat crossing to Sun Island for a typical lunch, before continuing to Yumani where we will find the fountain of eternal youth, and the ancient ruins of the Pilkokaina Inca Temple.  We will then return back to La Paz for a final evening at leisure in the city.

Day 15: Departure

After breakfast today, you will have a few hours to shop for any last-minute souvenirs before our driver collects us and transfers us back the airport for our return flight home.

Day 1: Arrive Cusco

Upon arrival a Cusco Airport, your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in the city.

Day 2: Cusco

Today you have a free day in Cusco to prepare for your Inca Trail Expedition.

Day 3: Cusco – Huayllambamba

Early morning bus drive to the head of our trail at Km 82 from where we continue along the Urubamba River to the first archaeological site "Llaqtapata". Once there we will have the chance to enjoy lunch in a beautiful setting. After a rest, our trek will continue through the side valley, eventually gaining altitude until we get to the last village, Huayllabamba, where we will camp for the day.  Approximate Walking Time: 5 -6 hours

Day 4: Huayllabamba – Pacaymayo  

After a healthy breakfast we will start climbing up towards the first pass, "Warmiwañusca". The climb will take us most of the morning. From here we will descend for about 2 hours into the valley to our next campsite, "Pacaymayo". Approximate Walking Time: 6 - 7 hours

Day 5: Pacaymayo - Wiñaywayna

Today is going to be the most diverse day. We will start in the morning with an ascent to the second pass, "Runcuracay" and descend on the other side for about 2 hours to reach the beautiful archaeological site of "Sayacmarca". We will continue on the original stone path of the Incas through a semi-tropical cloud forest onto the third pass "Phuyupatamarca" before descending to our camp site at "Wiñaywayna". Approximate Walking Time: 8 hours

Day 6: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast, we will hike for 2 hours to reach the famous sun gate known as "Intipunku" from where we have the first breathtaking view of the mysterious "Machu Picchu". A short walk brings us down to the site. After a guided tour of "the lost city of the Incas", we will descend by bus to the village of Aguas Calientes where we will enjoy lunch before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco by bus.
