Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival Johannesburg

Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, please clear immigration, collect your luggage, and proceed to the arrivals hall where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel for the night.

Overnight: African Pride Melrose Arch (or similar)

 

Day 2: Kruger National Park

You will depart the hotel in the early morning you’re your travel guide, and make your way to the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ – Mpumalanga.  Your 5 ½ hour journey will take you through incredible scenery including mountains, panoramic passes, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and forests. You will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon, check in, and start your Kruger Experience immediately with an afternoon open vehicle game drive into the Kruger National Park.  All safaris in the Kruger National Park are operated in specially designed open safari vehicles and you are accompanied by a qualified and experienced FGASA and SATOUR registered guide. After the sun has set on your first exhilarating day, you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Kruger National Park  

After breakfast today, you will embark on a full day safari in the Kruger National Park. Your safari starts early in the morning so that your guide can cover as much area as possible. Stops will be included at the various lookout points within the park, and a packed lunch will be enjoyed on-route. You will return to the hotel in the early evening in time for dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: Kruger National Park – Cape Town

After an early breakfast, you will depart the Kruger National Park and travel back to Johannesburg via the ‘Panorama Route’. Travel through “Gods playground” to God’s Window overlooking the green Lowveld. Further north along the route, you will stop along many well-positioned vantage points from where one has a view of the 33 km long Blyde River Canyon gorge, which starts at “Bourke’s Luck Potholes” and ends at the “Three Rondavels”. The tour ends on arrival at your Johannesburg based hotel or with drop-off at the O.R. Tambo International Airport by 18h00, where you will catch your connecting flight to Cape Town.

Upon arrival in Cape Town, your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in the city.

Day 5: Cape Town: Full Day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour

After breakfast today, you will set off on an awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point. Magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque coastal villages are to be seen along the way. The tour takes you along the Atlantic Seaboard to Hout Bay (optional seal island boat trip - weather permitting; not included), via Chapman’s Peak to Cape Point, Simon’s Town & the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony and ends with a visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, before returning to your hotel. Note: The drive via Chapman’s Peak is subject to the road being open. Ou Kaapse Weg will be used as an alternative route when necessary.

Day 6: Cape Town: Free Day

With a free day at your leisure in Cape Town, we recommend you take a day trip to Table Mountain or Robben Island, or take the Hop on Hop off city bus, which offers 2 fantastic routes around the city.

Day 7: Cape Town: Full Day Cape Winelands Tour

After breakfast today, your tour begins with a delightful drive through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads of the Cape Winelands.

You will spend some time at leisure in the heart of Stellenbosch before a wine & chocolate tasting at the Waterford Estate. Travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschhoek for a wine tasting, and possibly Schnapps, at Cape Chamonix in their “Blacksmith’s Cottage”. Lunch stop (not included). Final tasting at a Paarl estate. Note: Alternative estates may be visited over weekends and public holidays.

Day 8: Cape Town: Free Day

Today you have another free day at leisure to enjoy the many activities and shopping opportunities available in Cape Town.  We recommend you head to the V&A Waterfront Shopping Complex before making your way to Camps Bay for ‘sundowners’ overlooking the beautiful white beaches of Cape Town.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast today, you will have a few hours to shop for those last-minute souvenirs before transferring to the airport for your return flight home.
